What are the benefits of taking Driver Education though Dominion Driving Schools?
No full course cost? What does the course price include? When and where are the courses offered? Any of Dominion Driving Schools locations. Please check the schedules for specific dates and times. E-learning classes can be completed at your own leisure. How long do I have to complete the entire course? The course must be completed within 12 months of starting date (as per Ministry of Transportation guidelines). What should I do if I am unable to take the course after I have registered? Please contact Dominion Driving Schools at 519-576-4494. Please note that 24 hours notice is required to cancel or reschedule in-car lessons.
How can I pay for my course? We accept cash, cheque payable to "Dominion Driving Schools", money order, or Debit, (Visa/Mastercard/Credit cards 2% ser. charge applies) E-transfer payment is also available. . How much time will I actually spend in a car? You will spend 10 hours behind the wheel with an in-car instructor for Package 1 (Basic Course Package), or 11 hours for Package 2 (Plus Course Package).
Can I take all 10 hours in one day? We encourage our students to intersperse lessons to allow for practice and mastery of techniques shown and taught during in-car sessions. The minimum duration for a lesson is 1 hour with a maximum of 2 hours of in-car training within a 24-hour time period. If you require lessons within a condensed timeline, please consult your in-car instructor for the best approach to ensure the best use of the time and interval between in-car sessions.
How many hours of classroom instruction are there in total? No more class-room service Do I have to do any homework? Yes, in order to pass the MTO Approved Beginner Driver Education Course you must complete and hand-in 10 hours of assignments or (E-learning classes) with a passing grade of 70%. This is mandated by the Ministry of Transportation for all Beginner Driver Education courses in the province of Ontario. How many students will be in my class? There will be a minimum of 5 up to a maximum of 25 students. Please note that these numbers may change given the dynamic Covid-19 public health restrictions and guidelines. How many people will be in the car? The in-car lessons are one-on-one (just you and the instructor).
What is the age requirement to take the course? Students must have a valid G1 license to start any in-car training, and therefore, must be 16 years of age in the province of Ontario. Note: Course must be completed within 12 months of the start date. Please contact us for more details.
How long do I have to start my car training apart from the class time? The first in-car training session must be completed no later than 8 weeks after the last in-class session as per the Ministry of Transportation's guidelines.
Do I need to bring anything to class? Yes. You need bring your G1 license if you have one at the time. Books, pens, and paper will be provided to you.
Will I be contacted prior to the course start date? You will be contacted to verify the course times and dates for E-learning classes (any date/time; at your leisure)
What if I can't attend all the session' in-class the same course that I signed up for? If you cannot attend a class within a series, you may makeup a class at a later date/time. Please call us at 519-576-4494 to find out when you can make-up a class.
What if I need to change my in-car session/schedule? If you can no longer make your in-car booking, please call us 519-576-4494 or call your car instructor directly to change your session to avoid penalties. Please call at least 24 hours in-advance of the appointment in order to avoid the cancellation fee ($28).
When & how do I receive my certificate? Qualified students (with passing marks of 70% for both in-class and in-car training, as mandated by the Ministry of Transportation) will be certified by Dominion Driving School. In order to obtain proof of completion of a Beginners Driver Education course for insurance purposes, you must request a "Request for Driver License History Search for Prove of Beginner Driver Education course completion" from any Service Ontario location. Please note: Service Ontario charges $12.00 to complete this request, and is not included in the course price.
